Assalaamu Alaykum Warahmatullahi Wabaraaktu

Following the successful “Al-`Aqidah at-Tahawiyyah Course” with Shaykh Ismail Londt . . .

Madina Institute SA brings you another unique and exciting “Classical Texts” offering entitled

Fiqh us-Sirah: Lessons from the Life of Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu `alayhi wa alihi wa sallam) The Makkan Period (Module 1)

a 6-week evening-course on the life, teachings and legacy of Prophet Muhammad(sallallahu `alayhi wa alihi wa salaam) at the IPSA Auditorium, starting 13th May – 24th June 2013, Mondays 7pm – 8:30pm, presented by Shaykh `Abd al-Rasheed Brown

So long as we acknowledge that the Prophet (sallallahu `alayhi wa alihi wa sallam)has a biography on the basis of which we can seek to understand his life; no Muslim should imagine that his only miracle was the Qur’an. If, on the other hand, we deny that the Prophet (sallallahu `alayhi wa alihi wa sallam) even has such a biography, then we must also deny the miracle of the Qur’an, since the various miracles associated with the Apostle of God (sallallahu `alayhi wa alihi wa sallam)has reached us through the same sources from which we learn of the miracle of the Qur’an itself.

This course will endeavor to go beyond mere narration of the events of the Prophet’s (sallallahu `alayhi wa alihi wa sallam) life, through focusing on the lessons and ‘religious understanding’ that can be gleamed from it. This is an ideal course (The Makkan Period – Module 1) to learn about

the nature, need, and purpose of revelation and prophethood,
Arabia and the world before the birth of the Prophet(sallallahu `alayhi wa alihi wa sallam), the life of the Prophet (sallallahu `alayhi wa alihi wa sallam) up to the beginning of revelation,
the beginning of Revelation and the secret calling,
the public calling up to the migration, the Prophetic example, and key lessons from the Prophet’s (sallallahu `alayhi wa alihi wa sallam) life in Makkah.

The study and examination of the life of the Prophet (sallallahu `alayhi wa alihi wa sallam) is capable of achieving the following:

  • it provides an understanding of the ‘Prophetic’ personality and the circumstances in which he lived
  • it creates certainty about his messengership and the success he was granted by God through divine inspiration
  • it enables Muslims to discover and recognize that he is the only exemplary model to emulate in bringing virtue in all spheres of their lives
  • it enables Muslims to better understand the Qur’an and to gain an enhanced sense of it spirit and objectives
  • it engenders a deep and profound love for the Prophet (sallallahu `alayhi wa alihi wa sallam) and his family

All of these benefits encompass all aspects of human and social existence insofar as each of us are both an individual and a productive and effective member of society. This course serves to highlight all of these human dimensions, embodied in the most sublime exemplar and in the most consummate form; the life of the Prophet(sallallahu `alayhi wa alihi wa sallam).
