We understand that you may have some questions about the Turkey Leadership Camp 2024. We have compiled a list of frequently asked questions. Should you still require further assistance please feel free to contact us.
Admission to summer program is strictly merit-based. We are seeking the brightest minds who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement and a passion for learning. We are also looking for aspiring leaders.

The program will touch on a number of subjects such as:

  • Leadership workshops and skills
  • Ottoman History
  • General Islamic education, civilisation and culture
  • Turkish Language

It will also include:

• Expert-led educational sessions 
• Interactive workshops and discussions 
• Hands-on learning experiences 
• Guided tours of iconic landmarks and historic sites
• Opportunities for personal growth and development
Complete the application form.
 
Upload your personal statement and pay the non-refundable application fee of $75.
 
The deadline for applications is 30 April 2024. (But we will start looking at the applications as soon as they are submitted.)
 
All applications will be carefully vetted and the qualifying candidates will be contacted for an interview by our global team. 
 
Young applicants may be accompanied by their parents/ guardians.
 
Applicants may be requested to supply additional information such as academic records or character references.
 
Interview calls will be sent out to qualified applicants in early May.
 
The interview process will take place on Zoom or a similar video conferencing tool during the month of May. 
 
Successful applicants will be informed if they are accepted into the program by 15 May 2024.
 
The accepted candidates will be required to pay a non-refundable registration fee of $250 (USD) to reserve their spot in the program. The fee will be used towards the candidate’s extra curricular activities during the program. 
 
Failure to submit the $250 registration fee will lead to forfeiture of the spot to another candidate on the waiting list. 
 
It is a merit based and fully funded program. If accepted, all program costs including tuition, housing, meals, and transportation are covered by the program.
 
Airline tickets must be purchased and all liability forms must be completed by 30 May 2024.

Airport transfers are not included in the program. Transfers may be arranged at an additional cost (depending on availability).

This will be judged on a case-by-case basis, depending on the medical condition of the child. Please include this information in the personal statement. Parents may be required to accompany their child in special cases.

Your child needs to be available and present for the full duration of the program (30 June – 26 July 2024)

The accommodation provided at a prominent university dormitory. This entails shared sleeping facilities and bathrooms. Males and females will be housed in completely separate dormitories.

Dormitories have security and participants will be supervised by a responsible adult.

You are welcome to arrange alternative accommodation for your child at your own cost. You will also need to arrange transport for your child to and from Ibn Khaldun University. These arrangements must be made considering that your child must be present and punctual for all sessions, workshops and programs.

The accommodation and program is for youth ages 12-18 only. Parents who wish to stay in Istanbul for the duration of the program will need to arrange their own accommodation and meals.

Meals will be standard, and will not cater for allergies, special dietary requirements or cultural preferences. You are welcome to make arrangements for alternative meals for your child at your own cost. Please inform our team of any severe allergies.

Most of the programs and sessions will be facilitated in English. Should your child have a firm grasp of Turkish and/or Arabic they would be considered. Please include this information in the personal statement.

No, Arabic literacy is not a prerequisite for the program.

Your child will have access to laundry facilities and a basic kitchen.

It is not a prerequisite to join the program. If you have arranged any insurances, please do inform us.

Yes, these will be made available to you closer to the time and must be submitted to us no later than 30 May 2024.

Yes, your child will have access to WiFi. You may want to consider a local sim or a e-sim purchase if you would like your child to be able to communicate when off-campus.

Absolutely. We will have a team on the ground accompanying your child. You will receive all the relevant contact information prior to the commencement of the program.

Your child will be accompanied by a responsible adult for the full duration of the program.

No, we recommend a budget of approximately $30 (USD) to cover these costs.

Your child should bring along summer clothing, personal hygiene/care items and stationery. If your child is on any medication, please ensure they have a month’s supply and travel with a doctor’s medicine prescription. You can also pack in snacks or food items they enjoy. If your child has access to a tablet/ipad and/or smartphone we recommend they bring this along for both communication and learning. Please pack in comfortable walking shoes. As the accommodation is based at university dormitories, you should send towels, linen, a pillow, prayer mat (musallah) and cleaning products with your child. These items are also available in Istanbul should you choose to purchase them on arrival. Depending on the weather and itinerary, a beach visit may be scheduled. Your child may want to pack in swimming clothes to accommodate this. We also recommend protective gear against the sun such as sunscreen, sunglasses and peak caps/ hats.

There is no prescribed dress code. Modest dress is encouraged for both males and females.

In addition to the historical site entry fees, your child may have small expenses such as purchasing washing powder, extra toiletries, snacks and beverages. Any additional expenditure will depend on the personal preferences of you and your child. We suggest that you do not let your child travel with a big sum of cash money. Credit cards are accepted at most outlets.
