The class is aimed at helping new Muslim sisters to understand Islam, its beliefs and practices. It is also a great refresher course for those who haven’t been to madrassah in a while.

Topics that will be covered:

Tawheed – Understanding the Aqida of Ahlus-Sunnah wal Jama’ah. What does believing in the Oneness of Allah mean? What are its principles and characteristics?

Fiqh – Understanding the practices of purification, wudhu, salah and fasting.

Basic Arabic Reading & Quran recitation (with Tajweed) – Reading & pronunciation of Arabic letters as well as the basic rules of tajweed needed for melodious Quran recitation.

The Sunday morning class will be held at Madina Institute, 7th Floor Icon Building, Lower Long Street, Cape Town from 10 – 11:30am (times can change depending on the students)

The course will be delivered by sister Gadija Darries. She holds a degree in Project Management from The Cape Peninsula University of Technology. After spending some time working in the tourism industry, she took a break from her career to pursue Islamic studies. She graduated from Madina Institute in 2015, having completed the Usul Ud Din Program, and receiving ijaza from Sayyidi Shaykh Muhammad al-Ninowy. She is currently pursuing a BA Honours degree in Maqasid-as-Shariah, while putting her project management skills to use in The Madina Admin Team.

Registration starts Sunday, 20 March 2016, in shaa Allah.

Duration : 6 months

Cost is R150 per month (if able). All proceeds will go to charity.
